Cytoplasm is area between the nucleus and the cell membrane. The cytoplasm is filled with a gel-like substance call the cytosol. In eukaryotic cells, membrane bounded organelles are suspended in the cytoplasm. Since prokaryotic cells have no membrane bounded organelles the contents of the cell are contained in the cytoplasm organized in different regions.

Nuclear and Cytoplasmic Responses in Cells

Signaling Pathways in cells take place in both the nuclear and the cytoplasmic area. Once the signals are received at the receptor on the cell membrane, phosphorylation cascade or series of reactions take place in the cytoplasm by specific enzymes in the area.
