Glycolipids: Lipids covalently bonded to carbohydrates

Glycoprotein: Proteins covalently bonded to carbohydrates

Amino acids: the building blocks of proteins. The structure contains an amine (-NH2), a carboxyl functional group (-COOH) and a side chain (R).

Fatty acids: make the hydrophobic tails of the phospholipid that makes up the cell membrane.

Chemistry of Life

Golgi Apparatus is the "center of manufacturing, warehousing, sorting and shipping" inside animal and plant cells.

At the Golgi apparatus, products made at the ER (endoplasmic reticulum) such as proteins and lipids are modified, stored, and then sent to other destinations. Some  molecules that are modified at the Golgi apparatus are glycolipids and glycoproteins. It is an organelle also  specialized for secretions of cell materials.
